The BVM v2 upgrade has 3 phases:
Phase 1 (June): ZK Rollups on Bitcoin (BitZK)
Phase 2 (July): Bitcoin Operating System (BitOS)

PHASE 1
In June, we launched two foundational products:
1. BitZK: ZK Rollups on Bitcoin anyone can set up with just a few clicks for $99/month.
2. BitZK Light Nodes: Anyone can verify ZK proofs from their own laptop.

PHASE 2
Building upon Phase 1, we’ll launch two new products in July:
- Bitcoin Operating System (BitOS): A stable environment for efficient dapp performance and seamless user interactions.
- Bitcoin App Store: Solving the cold start problem for new chains.

BITCOIN OPERATING SYSTEM (BitOS)
Imagine a PC without Windows, a MacBook without macOS, or a server without Linux. It will be chaotic.
Operating systems are crucial for both developers and users.
BitOS provides a stable environment for building, hosting, and upgrading decentralized applications while ensuring a seamless user experience.
Here’s an overview of the key BitOS features we intend to work on in July.
User Experience
- Account Abstraction (July 8)
Account Abstraction will be enabled by default on all BVM-powered chains for simple UX and seamless token payments. Users can pay with whatever token.
Data Availability
- Polygon integrated with BitZK (June 2024)
- Avail integrated with BitZK (July 5)
- Celestia integrated with BitZK (July 17)
- Filecoin integrated with BitZK (July 17)
- Near DA integrated with BitZK (July 24)
- Eigen DA integrated with BitZK (July 24)
We’ve integrated @AvailProject, @CelestiaOrg, @Filecoin, @NEARProtocol DA, and @eigen_da with BitOP. They all have performed quite stably for the BVM-powered chains.
We’ll integrate them with BitZK in July, offering builders flexible DA choices for ZK rollups on Bitcoin.
Compute
- BitOP: Optimistic rollups on Bitcoin (Sep 2023)
- BitZK: ZK rollups on Bitcoin (June 2024)
- BitGPU: Parallelization rollups on Bitcoin (July 30)
After BitOP and BitZK, we’re excited to develop BitGPU, which will enable GPU-accelerated rollups on Bitcoin for compute-intensive applications like AI.

With the Bitcoin App Store, you can deploy your own Blast or Base chain with just a few clicks — fully loaded with apps and games.
Think of it as installing a new OS on your computer. The OS is fully loaded with default apps and games from day 1 and allows you to install more as you go.

Launch your own DeFi apps on your chain with just a few clicks. These apps let you issue a token for your chain, add a vesting schedule, and provide staking utility from day 1.

Engage users with fun games and use NFT Raffles to grow your user base.
Bridge Apps
- Ethereum Bridge (July 9)

- Ordinals Bridge (July 18)
Deploy bridges to expand into other ecosystems and support various assets. Initially, because of the current Bitcoin limitation, these bridges are multisig; use them at your own risk. Future updates will make them more decentralized and trustless when technology like BitVM is ready.

The crypto market is turbulent, but the BVM technical infrastructure is stronger than ever.
We shipped the first Solidity smart contracts on Bitcoin in March 2023, the first Optimistic Rollups in September 2023, and the first ZK Rollups in June 2024.
We’ll continue to do just that, shipping more firsts on Bitcoin.
We’re focused on bringing new technologies to Bitcoin and empowering the next generation of Bitcoin builders to build on Bitcoin.
